Project Manager
Company: ATLAS Traffic Management Systems (ATLAS TMS) was born from the acquisition of the Department of Transportation Service Business (MasTec ITS) of MasTec, Inc., a NYSE-traded company. The assets of MasTec ITS were acquired by LEÓN, MAYER & Co., a Miami and New York based private equity firm, in partnership with MasTec ITS management, on February 14, 2007. Every employee of ATLAS will have the opportunity to be an owner of the company. ATLAS TMS is a premier specialty construction contractor focused on the installation, maintenance and repair of traffic management systems (dynamic message signs, closed circuit television systems, vehicle detection systems), TMS IT Infrastructure (LAN/WAN, fiber optic cable) and traditional roadside construction (guardrails, highway lighting and signing, interstate structures). Over the prior twelve month period, the Company generated approximately $83 million of revenue. ATLAS TMS is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with a total of five offices throughout the state of Florida and six offices in the other states where the Company has operations. ATLAS TMS currently has approximately 400 employees with projects in ten states: Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Illinois and Tennessee. The Company's customer base consists of federal, state or local departments of transportation (DOTs) and prime contractors to DOTs for whom the Company performs work as a subcontractor. Position Overview: The Project Manager's primary responsibility is to deliver projects on budget, on time and to ensure timely collection of cash. The Project Manager will report directly to an Area Manager or Regional Vice President. The Project Manager will be accountable for the successful execution and completion of projects and as such shall ideally be involved from the time the Project is let through the receipt of final payment and close out of the project.
Primary Responsibilities:


  • Organize, oversee and lead all aspects of your projects through their entire lifecycle, from letting through completion

  • Implement and enforce the Company's best-in-class safety policies and practices across the board for all your projects to absolutely minimize any incidents and to hold your personnel accountable for their actions

  • Hire, train and develop your personnel to be best-in-class and to support you in achieving your objectives

  • Coordinate, with owners or prime contractors, the flows of the entire project including schedule, submittals, materials, equipment, labor and expenses

  • Ensure and take ownership for the timely completion and delivery of all material submittals at time of pre construction

  • Provide and represent the Company with a strong presence and maintain an open line of communication amongst all parties to your projects, including the Owner, CEI, Prime, Job Supervisor, etc

  • Track and report weekly project financial performance including project P&Ls, billing and cash collections

  • Track and report to senior management any issues with subcontractors that are not fully in-line with best business practices - you will be held accountable for the oversight and enforcement of the highest level of ethical behavior and quality performance from your subcontractors

  • Ensure rapid collection of cash for work performed


Requirements for Education or Experience


  • Undergraduate college degree or equivalent experience, engineering or construction management degree preferred

  • Level 2 IMSA Certification is a plus

  • Able to represent the Company in a highly professional manner to outside parties (customers, vendors, subs) and also to speak the language of the field

  • Excellent quantitative ability

  • Ability to analyze data and make timely decisions

  • Take-charge individual that is comfortable driving the operations of a construction project with multiple parties (subcontractors, owners, vendors, internal company divisions)
