Fernando Pinera, President
Mr. Pinera is a senior executive with more then 15 years of experience in operations, finance/accounting and sales/marketing with multi-location high growth companies. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Fleet and Asset Management for NationsRent, Inc. (NationsRent), where he was responsible for the sourcing, disposition and financial performance of $1 billion of construction rental equipment. Prior to his role in fleet and asset management, he was the Regional Vice President of the Southeast region for NationsRent where he had direct responsibility for over 500 employees, over $120 million in revenues and approximately $165 million in construction rental equipment. As Regional Vice President of the Southeast, Mr. Pinera improved cash flows for his operating region by 170% and improved ROIC from 10% to 26%. Mr. Pinera was also a member of the management team that lead NationsRent through a successful emergence from Chapter 11 bankruptcy, where Mr. Pinera co-directed the negotiations of approximately $330 million of operating leases resulting in over $4.5 million in quarterly cash flow savings. Also while at NationsRent, he led the successful business integration of 52 acquisitions, creating one of the top 10 construction companies in the industry. Mr. Pinera graduated from Florida International University with a BS in Accounting and has successfully completed the Executive Development Program at The Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania.
John Coyne, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Coyne is a 33-year veteran of the Traffic Management Systems industry with experience in all aspects of highway specialty work. Mr. Coyne has extensive experience working with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Traffic Signal Systems, Highway Signing and Lighting, HIghway Guardrail, and Design Build projects. Over the course of his career, he has established a strong track record of managing profitable growth. From 1998 to 2004, Mr. Coyne grew Mastec's Florida ITS business from $12 million to $75 million in revenue. He was the project manager on the first computerized traffic signal system in Miami-Dade County in the late 70s, the best in class computerized traffic system in the nation at that point. Mr. Coyne has also managed or directed over 15 Design Build ITS projects ranging from $2 million to over $15 million. Mr. Coyne graduated from Slippery Rock University with a BS degree in Sociology.
Jaro Volny, Senior Vice President of Human Capital Management
Mr. Volny is a senior management professional with over 22 years of experience across multiple industries, a track record of organizational improvements and leading complex initiatives and organizations in transition. As SVP of Human Capital Management, he is dedicated to the implementation of best-in-class emloyee training and development programs, employee focused initiatives, recruitment programs, and other best-practices. Prior to joining ATLAS, he has held a number of senior management roles in land and ship construction, supply chain and IT. As a member of the management team of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, he was responsible for the Construction Project Management and Administration of the world's largest cruise ships. He is one of the Founding Partnersof KPMG Consulting (now BearingPoint) where he was responsible for the Business Strategy and Operations Improvement Practice within the construction, manufacturingand transportation industries with clients such as Ryder, FedEx, Norfolk Southern, Bax Global, Royal Caribbean, Cooper Standard and McCarthy Construction. Over his consulting career, he has led over 20 profitability projects driving improvements in excess of $100 million. He has established successful business units, developed effective leaders, formulated business strategies and mobilized organizations for implementation of wholesale change. His deep experience in engineering, construction and organizational development is a tremendous asset to his mission at ATLAS TMS as SVP of Human Capital Management. Mr. Volny earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mechanics-Bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego, a Master of International Management from Thunderbird, School of Global Management, and has participated in numerous professional education curricula.
